12th December 2024, Vikas Kumar Ojha, Patna: The Governor of Bihar, Shri Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, recently attended the 300th birth anniversary celebration of the renowned queen and social reformer, Ahilyabai Holkar, at the Mahabodhi Cultural Centre in Bodhgaya. The event was organized by Raj Bhavan, Bihar, in collaboration with Magadh University, Vishnupad Temple, Bodhgaya, Ramanujacharya Math, Bodhgaya, and various other social organizations that played a pivotal role in the successful execution of the program.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor emphasized the exceptional contributions of Ahilyabai Holkar towards the welfare of society. He described her as a true “Lokmata” (Mother of the People) whose entire life was dedicated to the service and upliftment of the marginalized sections of society. The Governor further expressed that Ahilyabai’s life stands as a beacon of inspiration for all, and her character should be presented to society to inspire people to work towards the betterment of the nation.
Shri Arlekar shared insights into Ahilyabai Holkar’s remarkable achievements, particularly her relentless work in promoting social welfare, uplifting religious practices, fostering cultural growth, and strengthening India’s ancient traditions. He noted that her reign in the Holkar dynasty, especially in the region of Malwa, was marked by her commitment to justice, spirituality, and public service.
The Governor praised her notable acts of charity, the establishment of numerous temples, and her contributions to the development of infrastructure in her kingdom. These efforts were aimed not only at improving the condition of her people but also at preserving and promoting India’s rich cultural heritage. Ahilyabai Holkar’s legacy, which remains a source of inspiration, encourages people to pursue noble causes for the collective good of society, he added.
The event, which attracted a large number of attendees, highlighted Ahilyabai Holkar’s stature as one of the most prominent female rulers in Indian history. Her legacy is still deeply respected, and her commitment to justice and equality continues to serve as a guiding principle for leaders and citizens alike. The Governor concluded his speech by expressing his hope that such celebrations and discussions would keep her memory alive for future generations.
The program, which included various lectures and cultural presentations, concluded on a note of reverence for the Queen’s contributions to society and her tireless efforts in shaping India’s history.
