Patna, Advocate Suman Kumari, Legal Correspondent, June 15th 2026: Chief Justice of the Patna High Court, Justice Meenakshi Madan Rai, on Monday (15th June 2026) administered the oath of office to seven newly appointed judges of the Patna High Court in a ceremonial function held on the court premises.
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by a large gathering of judges, senior advocates, legal luminaries, members of the Bar, and family members of the newly appointed judges.
Among the dignitaries present were Bihar Bar Council of India Chairman Ramakant Sharma, senior advocates Yogesh Chandra Verma and Amit Srivastava, office-bearers of various Patna High Court bar associations, and several other distinguished guests.
Advocates Ranjan Kumar Jha, Kumar Manish, and Raj Kumar took oath as judges of the Patna High Court, while advocates Rana Vikram Singh, Vikas Kumar, Girijesh Kumar, and Alok Kumar were sworn in as additional judges. Their appointments were notified by the Union Government following the recommendation of the Supreme Court Collegium.
With the induction of the seven judges, the working strength of the Patna High Court has increased from 37 to 44, bringing the court closer to its sanctioned strength and providing a boost to the administration of justice in the state.
Earlier, on February 26th 2026, the Supreme Court Collegium had recommended the elevation of nine advocates as judges of the Patna High Court. The appointments are expected to help address the growing judicial workload and improve the pace of case disposal in the court.
