Patna, December 20th, 2024, Vikas K Ojha: Bihar has attracted investment proposals totaling ₹90,734 crore in the renewable energy sector, signaling a transformative shift towards a sustainable future. These investments include significant projects that will not only bolster the state’s energy capacity but also contribute to its economic and environmental development.

Among the key projects is a ₹10,000 crore solar plant by NTPC Green, which aims to harness the power of the sun to provide clean and renewable energy. Another major project, worth ₹10,000 crore, is the pump storage initiative by SJVN, designed to store energy for future use, improving grid stability and energy security. Additionally, Ashoka Buildcon is investing ₹9,000 crore in green hydrogen production, a clean fuel alternative with the potential to revolutionize the energy sector.
Bijendra Prasad Yadav, the Energy Minister of Bihar, highlighted the significance of these projects, stating, “Floating solar and pump storage projects will transform Bihar into a leader in clean energy, boosting energy self-reliance and environmental sustainability.” He further emphasized that these initiatives will not only reduce carbon emissions but also create thousands of new jobs, thus driving economic growth.

The projects align with the state’s vision of becoming a hub for renewable energy, focusing on solar, wind, and green hydrogen. The investments reflect Bihar’s commitment to achieving energy self-sufficiency and contributing to the nation’s clean energy goals. With these projects, Bihar aims to significantly reduce its dependence on fossil fuels, improve its energy security, and address the pressing challenges of climate change.
As these projects move forward, they will contribute to Bihar’s growing reputation as a green energy hub, helping to foster sustainable development while boosting its economy. This move is expected to attract more investments in the renewable energy sector, setting a benchmark for other states in India.
