Patna, Vikas Kumar Ojha, Editor-in-chief, News Life Network, July 6th 2026: Bihar Police on Monday celebrated the fourth anniversary of its Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) Dial-112, highlighting significant improvements in emergency response services and unveiling plans for a next-generation emergency network powered by artificial intelligence.
Speaking at a function held at the Bihar Police Headquarters, Director General of Police Vinay Kumar praised officers and personnel for maintaining an average response time of around 10 minutes. Outstanding officials were felicitated for their contribution to the success of the emergency response system.
According to Bihar Police, Dial-112 has provided emergency assistance to more than 6 million citizens since its launch. The integrated helpline currently operates with 1,833 Emergency Response Vehicles (ERVs) and handles nearly 7,500 emergency calls every day, providing police, ambulance, fire, disaster response, highway patrol, and women and child protection services through a single platform.
The service has responded to over 529,000 cases involving women and child safety, 3.53 million local disputes and assault cases, 273,000 road accidents, and 149,000 fire emergencies across the state.
Officials also announced plans to transform the system into the Next Generation Emergency Response Support System (NGERSS), featuring AI-based crime analysis, real-time monitoring, one-click SOS services for women, and integration with other emergency agencies to further improve public safety.
