Patna, December 8, 2024, Vikas Kumar Ojha: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today inspected the ongoing construction of an underground passage (sub-way) and multi-level hub near Patna Junction.
During the inspection, the Chief Minister reviewed the progress of the construction, including the installation of escalators, lifts, entry and exit points, and other facilities that will be provided to passengers. He gathered detailed information from officials regarding the ongoing work.
Nitish Kumar told the officials to speed up the work and emphasized that once the underpass is completed, it will be easy for people to move towards and away from Patna Junction. All facilities will be available in the sub-way so that it is easy to reach other places without much congestion for commuters.
Following this, the Chief Minister also visited the multi-level hub. He was briefed by officials about the latest developments in the construction of the hub. Both the underground passage and the multi-level hub were inspected by him from the GPO Golambar flyover and Hanuman Mandir flyover.
It is noteworthy that, under the Smart City initiative for Patna, the underground passage (sub-way) is being constructed to connect the GPO Golambar area with Patna Junction. The primary objective of the project is to improve the traffic management system around the Patna Junction area. A multi-level hub near GPO Golambar will be constructed, connecting the city buses, auto-rickshaws, taxis, and private car parking facility. The underground passage will connect Patna Railway Station, Mahavir Mandir, and Buddha Smriti Park. This place is one of the busiest places where heavy foot traffic goes around. The new set of infrastructure here will ease the pedestrian movement across busy roads.
He was accompanied by key officials in the inspection. They were Principal Secretary Deepak Kumar, Secretary Anupam Kumar, Secretary Kumar Ravi, Patna District Magistrate Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh, Bihar State Bridge Construction Corporation Ltd. Chairman Tishat Kapil Ashok, Municipal Commissioner Animesh Parashar, and other senior officers.
