Crackdown on Private Schools in Rohtas, Arbitrary Fee Collection Banned, Fee Details Mandatory on Website

Rohtas, Mithilesh Kumar, 11th April 2026: In a major move to ensure transparency and protect parents from exploitation, the Rohtas district administration has taken a strict stand against arbitrary fee collection by private schools. District Education Officer (DEO) Madan Rai has issued clear directives stating that no illegal charges will be tolerated during admissions for the academic session 2026–27.

The action comes after multiple complaints that several private schools were allegedly forcing parents to pay hefty amounts under various heads such as re-admission, uniforms, books, and other charges. Taking serious note, the administration has stepped in to regulate the process.

The DEO has directed all private schools to publicly display a complete breakdown of fees—including admission, monthly, annual, development, and other charges—on their notice boards as well as official websites. This step aims to bring accountability and clarity in the fee structure.

Additionally, schools have been strictly instructed not to compel parents to purchase books, uniforms, or other materials from specific vendors. Parents are free to buy these items from any source of their choice.

The order also warns that strict action will be taken against institutions violating these guidelines, including cancellation of recognition if necessary. Block Education Officers across the district have been directed to conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance.

Overall, this initiative by the Rohtas administration is being seen as a significant step towards safeguarding parents’ interests and bringing greater transparency into the education system.
