“Cyber Criminals Operating Fake Call Center Busted in Sheikhpura, 8 Arrested”


Sheikhpura, December 17, 2024, Dharmendra Kumar: Acting on intelligence received from the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), Ministry of Home Affairs, regarding cybercrime activities, Sheikhpura police conducted a major raid under the supervision of the Superintendent of Police. A special team, led by the Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Sheikhpura, was formed to take action against a cybercriminal group reportedly operating a call center in Panchi village under Shekhopursarai police station limits.

On Tuesday at 12:45 PM, the team surrounded an area near the river in Mirbigha village (Shekhopursarai) and discovered 20-25 youths sitting by the river, talking on phones. Noticing the police action, the group scattered in different directions. However, the police successfully nabbed 8 individuals, while the rest managed to flee. Upon investigation, several illegal mobile phones, SIM cards, and online evidence of fraud, including chats and transactions, were recovered.

These cybercriminals were deceiving innocent people by advertising fake loan services from various finance companies. They lured victims with promises of quick loans, sending QR codes to siphon off money fraudulently. The recovered mobile phones also contained incriminating WhatsApp chats related to the scam.

The arrested individuals have been identified as:

  1. Nitish Kumar (son of Ashok Chaudhary)
  2. Ranjan Kumar Chaudhary (son of Naresh Chaudhary)
  3. Roshan Kumar (son of Sukar Chaudhary)
  4. Akhilesh Kumar (son of Heera Ram)
  5. Mukund Chaudhary (son of Suresh Chaudhary)
  6. Vikash Ram (son of Vinod Ram)

The police have formally arrested the accused and seized all the recovered evidence for further investigation. Efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend the other absconding members of the cybercrime group.
