Jayprakash Bhagat, Katihar, 24th December 2024: A shocking case of domestic violence has emerged from Poddar Tola in Azamnagar police station area of Katihar district, where a husband allegedly beat his wife to death in a drunken rage.
Madan Poddar, a laborer addicted to alcohol, returned home intoxicated on the fateful night. His wife, Nutan Devi, confronted him over his drinking habits, leading to a heated argument. Enraged by her protests, Madan picked up an iron rod and began beating Nutan mercilessly.
The horrifying incident unfolded in front of the couple’s 10-year-old daughter, who tried desperately to save her mother but was unable to stop her father. Madan continued his brutal assault until Nutan succumbed to her injuries.
The police have sent the woman’s body for post-mortem examination and arrested Madan. Police has begun investigation on this incident and will file an FIR. Authorities are now investigating the matter thoroughly.
In her statement, Nutan’s daughter recounted the tragic events of the night, while the victim’s mother-in-law also provided her account of the situation. This harrowing incident highlights the devastating impact of alcohol-fueled domestic violence on families.
