Rohtas, Mithilesh Kumar, 16th April 2026: The Education Department in Rohtas district has taken a strict stance against the alleged arbitrary practices of private schools. With the beginning of the new academic session, increasing complaints of exploitation from parents have prompted the administration to go into action mode.
District Education Officer Madan Rai stated that strict action will be taken against schools violating the provisions of the Bihar Private School Fee Regulation Act, 2019. He made it clear that any institution failing to follow the prescribed guidelines will face serious consequences.
Several private schools have been accused of forcing parents to purchase books, notebooks, uniforms, and even footwear exclusively from the school, often at inflated prices. This has put an unnecessary financial burden on families.
Taking these complaints seriously, the department has constituted monitoring teams at the divisional level. These teams will closely track fee hikes and other activities of private institutions.
All private schools have been directed to publicly display complete details of their fee structure on school notice boards. Additionally, schools with websites must ensure full transparency by uploading detailed fee information online.
The department has also clarified that no new charges can be imposed without adhering to the official guidelines. Any violation will invite strict action, including possible cancellation of recognition.
Reports suggest that several schools in Rohtas have been pressuring parents to buy expensive study materials, leading to growing resentment among guardians. The administration’s move is being seen as a significant step towards ensuring transparency and protecting the rights of parents.
