Patna, Vikas K Ojha, December 25, 2024: On the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee, a lecture on ‘Good Governance Day’ was organized at the Rajendra Mandap of Raj Bhavan. Honorable Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar presided over the event, emphasizing the transformative impact of governance initiatives on society.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor highlighted the necessity of Bihar’s progress for India to achieve the status of a developed nation. He remarked, “Good governance initiatives have significantly influenced societal advancement, and Bihar’s development is essential for India’s aspiration to become a developed nation by 2047.”
Keynote Address by G-20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant
The keynote speaker, G-20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant, provided an in-depth analysis of India’s efforts in ensuring good governance. He discussed structural reforms, the implementation of GST, ease of doing business, infrastructure development, technological advancements, digitization, and environmental conservation.
Highlighting India’s rapid economic growth, Kant stated, “India’s progress is evident in its fastest-growing economy, but achieving the vision of a developed nation by 2047 hinges on Bihar’s transformation.” He also elaborated on the challenges India faces in this journey and offered viable solutions to overcome them.
Tributes to Vajpayee
The program began with tributes paid to Bharat Mata and Atal Bihari Vajpayee as the Governor garlanded their portraits. This solemn gesture marked the significance of Vajpayee’s vision and commitment to good governance.

The event witnessed participation from several prominent figures, including Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, former Sikkim Governor Ganga Prasad, Chief Secretary Amrit Lal Meena, Principal Secretary to the Governor Robert L. Chongthu, and other senior administrative and police officials.
Vice Chancellors, Pro-Vice Chancellors, Registrars of various universities, principals of colleges, heads of institutions, members of commissions, and staff from the Governor’s Secretariat were also present, underlining the inclusive nature of the program.
