Patna, December 16th 2024, Vikas Kumar Ojha: Governor-cum-Chancellor Shri Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar addressed the fourth convocation ceremony of Patliputra University, Patna, held at Sri Krishna Memorial Hall. While awarding medals and degrees to students, he emphasized the importance of setting high goals and using one’s knowledge and intellect for the benefit of the nation and society. He remarked that society would recognize individuals through their actions and conduct, citing the example of renowned tabla maestro Ustad Alla Rakha, who earned global acclaim through his remarkable contributions.
The Hon’ble Governor urged young people to shed the mindset of merely seeking jobs and instead strive to become job providers. Highlighting various government schemes aimed at promoting self-employment, he announced plans to establish an Entrepreneurship Development Cell in every university to offer guidance and assistance to aspiring entrepreneurs.

He further directed all universities to ensure regular academic sessions and timely conduct of examinations, publication of results, and distribution of certificates. Emphasizing the need to enhance the educational environment in Bihar, he stated that efforts should be made so that students from Bihar do not have to go elsewhere for education, and instead, students from other states are drawn to study in Bihar. The Hon’ble Governor also highlighted the rich history of Bihar’s education and culture, stressing the need to preserve and celebrate it. He encouraged universities to foster research and innovation.
During the ceremony, The Hon’ble Governor awarded Ph.D. degrees and gold medals to meritorious students, extending his congratulations and best wishes for their bright futures.
The convocation was also addressed by Prof. Abhay Kumar Singh, Vice-Chancellor of Nalanda University, Rajgir. Present on the occasion were the Governor’s Principal Secretary, Robert L. Chongthu; Vice-Chancellor of Patliputra University, Prof. R.K. Singh; Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ganesh Mahto; Registrar Prof. N.K. Jha; Vice-Chancellors of various universities; members of the Senate, Syndicate, and Academic Council; faculty and non-teaching staff; degree recipients and their families; and other dignitaries.
