Two persons, including a youth from Nepal, have been arrested during the raid.
Addressing a press conference at Kathaiya police station on Monday, West DSP Suchitra Kumari said the operation was carried out following a secret tip-off as part of the district-wide campaign against illegal liquor trade being conducted under the directions of the Senior Superintendent of Police.
According to the DSP, the raid was conducted on May 17, 2026, at a poultry farm owned by Roshan Singh in Sirsiyan village under Kathaiya police station limits.
During the search operation, police recovered nearly 137 litres and 850 ml of foreign liquor, around 30 litres of spirit, liquor manufacturing machines and several other equipment allegedly used in the illegal production process.
Police also seized 7,000 empty 180 ml plastic bottles, wrappers and stickers of different liquor brands, along with nearly 200 empty bottles, indicating that the unit was involved in large-scale packaging and distribution of counterfeit foreign liquor.
Two accused were arrested from the spot. They have been identified as Tuntun Kumar, a resident of Rampur Bhediyahi village under Kathaiya police station area, and Dinesh Kumar, a resident of Morang district in Nepal.
Police officials said the estimated value of the seized liquor and equipment is around Rs 1 crore. Both accused are being sent to judicial custody while further investigation is underway to identify other members linked to the racket.
The bust is being seen as a significant achievement for Muzaffarpur police amid continued efforts to enforce Bihar’s prohibition law and dismantle interstate liquor smuggling networks.
