Gaya, December 9, 2024, Abhishek Kumar: In a swift response by Gaya police, a special team successfully rescued a kidnapped child from Palamu, Jharkhand, within six hours of the FIR being registered. The police also apprehended four individuals involved in the crime, including the one who had attempted to kidnap the child. The motorcycle used in the abduction was also recovered. After questioning, the accused were sent to judicial custody.
At a press conference held at the Sherghati Sub-Divisional Police Office on Monday, Gaya City SP, Prerna Kumar, shared the details of the case. A woman had filed a written complaint at Imamganj police station on December 8, 2024, stating that her son had gone to an “Aahar” (waterbody) near their home to watch fish being caught. However, after a long wait, he did not return home. Upon investigation, it was discovered that two unidentified individuals had taken the child on a motorcycle.
Following the complaint, Imamganj police registered a case (FIR No. 325/24, Sections 317/3(5) BNS) and initiated an investigation. The matter was taken seriously by the Gaya City SP, who directed the formation of a special team led by Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Amit Kumar, comprising Imamganj police station officers and technical staff from Gaya Police.
Using intelligence and technical research, the special team raided a location in Baridih village, under Imamganj police jurisdiction, and arrested an individual identified as Anuj Kumar, son of Arjun Paswan from Narayanpur village, Mangra police area. The arrested accused had a keypad mobile phone, and upon interrogation, he revealed that his accomplices had taken the child to Palamu, Jharkhand.
Based on the accused’s statements, the special team traced the kidnappers to a newly constructed house in Bichkila Padma, near Manatu police station in Palamu district, Jharkhand. Three individuals were arrested there, identified as Saurabh Kumar, son of Vijay Yadav from Pratapur, Chatra district, Jharkhand; Avadh Kumar, son of Surendra Ganju; and Pintoo Kumar, son of Sandip Kumar from Sohail, Gaya district.
During the search of the three suspects, the police recovered several smartphones from their possession. Following this, the police also conducted a search of the new house, where they safely rescued the kidnapped child and recovered the Apache motorcycle used in the crime.
All four arrested individuals admitted to their involvement in the abduction, stating that they had intended to demand a ransom for the child. The police are now continuing efforts to arrest the other accomplices involved in the crime. An investigation is ongoing to ascertain the criminal history of the arrested individuals.
