Jehanabad, 11th December 2024, Pawan Kumar: Controversy has erupted in Bihar after a statement made by RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav. His remarks, criticized as disrespectful to women, have drawn sharp reactions from several leaders of the NDA. Among them is Minister Ashok Choudhary, who didn’t hold back while addressing the media during his visit to Jehanabad for a review meeting.
“Lalu’s Comments Are Shameful,” Says Choudhary
Minister Choudhary was visibly upset as he responded to the media. “Lalu Yadav’s remarks about women are not just inappropriate but outright disgraceful. This kind of behavior reflects his low level of thinking,” he said.
Pointing to Lalu’s personal life, Choudhary added, “He has seven daughters and even made his wife the Chief Minister of Bihar. Yet, he doesn’t think twice before making such objectionable statements about women. It’s deeply disappointing.”
Lalu vs. Nitish: A Tale of Two Approaches
Drawing a stark comparison between Lalu Yadav and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Choudhary praised Kumar for his efforts to empower women.
“Under Nitish Kumar’s leadership, women have received 35% reservation in government jobs and 50% reservation in Panchayati Raj institutions. These steps have not only uplifted women but have given them a sense of dignity and independence,” he stated.
Choudhary also took a jab at Lalu’s tenure as CM, describing it as a time of mismanagement marked by initiatives like the “Charwaha Vidyalayas” (cowherd schools) and other ineffective policies.
Addressing Nitish Kumar’s Own Controversy
When asked about allegations that Nitish Kumar had used inappropriate language in the Bihar Legislative Assembly, Choudhary defended the Chief Minister.
“What Nitish Kumar quoted was directly from CBSE Class 10 textbooks. I personally brought the book to the Assembly to clarify the matter. Referring to educational material isn’t disrespectful,” Choudhary explained.
He argued that Lalu’s remarks were baseless and deliberately aimed at demeaning women, while Kumar’s comments were grounded in facts and context.
Setting the Tone for Political Dialogue
The uproar over Lalu’s comments has once again raised questions about the level of decorum in political discourse. Choudhary emphasized the need for leaders to maintain respect, especially when addressing sensitive topics like women’s empowerment.
“Lalu Yadav’s remarks not only insult women but undermine the progress Bihar has made under Nitish Kumar’s leadership. It’s time for a change in the way leaders communicate,” Choudhary asserted.
Final Thoughts
As Bihar continues to grow and progress, controversies like these serve as a reminder of the responsibility leaders bear in shaping public dialogue. While Lalu Yadav remains silent on the backlash, the incident has put a spotlight on the importance of accountability and respectful communication in politics.
In the end, the question remains: Can Bihar’s political leaders rise above divisive rhetoric to focus on real issues affecting its people?
