Bhabhua (Kaimur), Amit Kumar, December 16th 2024: The Excise Department of Kaimur district achieved a major breakthrough on Monday by seizing a large quantity of liquor from a truck in Bhabhua. The incident occurred near the Excise Police Station on Bhabhua Court Road.
Excise Superintendent Santosh Srivastava revealed that acting on a tip-off, the truck was under surveillance from the Suara River area. The truck was intercepted near the Excise Police Station, where it was found loaded with crates of oranges on top. Upon further inspection, a large stash of liquor was discovered concealed beneath the orange crates.
The superintendent stated that the liquor is currently being unloaded from the truck, and the counting process is ongoing. While the exact quantity has yet to be determined, the haul is expected to be substantial.
One person has been arrested in connection with the case, and the truck has been impounded. The police are working to identify others involved in the smuggling network and have assured strict action against them.
The Excise Department has termed this seizure a significant success in curbing liquor smuggling in the district. Under the state’s prohibition laws, the authorities have intensified their crackdown on illicit liquor activities.
