Rohtas, May 19th 2026: In a major action against illegal sand mining and transportation, the district administration in Bihar’s Rohtas carried out a late-night crackdown in the Dehri subdivision area and arrested three alleged “liners” who were facilitating the movement of illegally loaded sand vehicles.
The operation was conducted under the leadership of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) along with the mining department team following repeated complaints regarding illegal transportation of sand in the Makarain, Dalmianagar and Akorhi Gola areas.
According to officials, the administration had received inputs that illegal sand-laden tractors were being operated throughout the night with the help of local “liners” who guided the vehicles through safe routes to evade action by authorities.
During the midnight raid, officials intercepted a white car allegedly being used to assist sand-loaded vehicles. Three persons travelling in the car were taken into custody on charges of facilitating illegal sand transportation.
The administration also seized the vehicle used in the operation.
Speaking on the action, SDM Nilesh Kumar said the administration is committed to cracking down on illegal mining and transportation activities and that strict action will continue against those involved in the sand mafia network.
The sudden raid has reportedly created panic among illegal sand operators in the region, with authorities intensifying surveillance in sensitive mining zones.
