Rohtas, 25th April 2026, Mithilesh Kumar: A long-standing rivalry allegedly turned deadly once again in Bihar’s Rohtas district after a man was shot dead near his residence in Niranjanpur village under Darigaon police station limits on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Deepu Sah, son of Ganga Sah and a resident of Barki Karpurwa.
According to police, unidentified assailants opened fire on Deepu Sah near his house, killing him on the spot. The incident triggered panic in the locality and left the victim’s family in shock.
Investigators suspect the murder may be linked to an old enmity stemming from the killing of one Saroj Paswan nearly two years ago in the same area. Deepu Sah had been named as an accused in that case and had recently returned from jail after being granted bail.
Police believe the latest killing may be an act of retaliation connected to that earlier murder.
Following the incident, Roshan Kumar reached the crime scene and launched an investigation. A forensic team also visited the spot to collect evidence.
Speaking to the media, SP Roshan Kumar said that five individuals have been detained for questioning in connection with the case. He added that suspects have been identified during the preliminary investigation and arrests are expected soon.
The body was sent late Friday night to Sadar Hospital in Sasaram for post-mortem examination.
Heavy police deployment has been made in the area to maintain law and order following the murder.
