Rohtas, December 14th 2024, Mithilesh Kumar: In a swift operation led by Rohtas SP Roshan Kumar, the police cracked the case of a masoor dal-laden truck loot within 24 hours. The incident, which occurred near the Daudnagar-Nasriganj Son Bridge, saw the truck’s driver emerge as the mastermind behind the heist. The stolen goods, consisting of 25 tons of lentils, were recovered, and two individuals, including the driver, have been arrested.
The Incident
The truck, bearing registration number WB-78-8279, was en route from Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh, to Kolkata when the driver, Yogendra Yadav, along with his helper Dinanath Ojha, orchestrated the robbery. According to the police, Yadav and his accomplice planned the heist while transporting the consignment. They chose a deserted stretch of road near the Daudnagar bridge as the site for the theft.
Yadav sold the stolen lentils to a contact in Arwal district and abandoned the truck on the roadside. To mislead the authorities, he fabricated a story and filed a complaint at the Nasriganj police station.
Police Investigation
A team led by SDPO Bikramganj Kumar Sanjay, with officers from Nasriganj police station and the DIU, was formed to investigate the case. Upon interrogating Yadav, inconsistencies in his story raised suspicions. Further questioning revealed the premeditated nature of the crime, involving his accomplice Dinanath Ojha and a local associate, Shekhar Kumar alias Dhannu Sharma, from Arwal district.
Using scientific methods, the police traced the truck to Mehndiya in Arwal district. Along with the vehicle, they recovered 366 sacks of masoor dal weighing 25 tons and 750 plastic sacks.

Arrests and Ongoing Investigation
Yadav, a resident of Paharipur village in Bhojpur district, and Sharma, from Pamabhai village in Arwal, have been arrested and sent to jail. The police are actively pursuing other accomplices, including the helper, and expect to make additional arrests soon.
