Patna, February 20th 2025, Vikas Kumar Ojha: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar conducted a review meeting on the developmental projects in Nalanda district as part of his ongoing ‘Pragati Yatra.’ The meeting, held at Shaheed Hardev Bhavan in Bihar Sharif, included district officials and local representatives who provided detailed updates on various initiatives.
District Magistrate Shashank Shubhankar presented the progress on key schemes, including the Bihar Student Credit Card Scheme, Mukhyamantri Nishchay Swayam Sahayata Bhatta Yojana, Skill Youth Program, and Har Ghar Nal Ka Jal. Other projects such as road connectivity, rural electrification, telemedicine services, and the construction of Panchayat Government buildings were also reviewed.
Key Announcements and Directives
During the meeting, the Chief Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to development and urged officials to ensure timely execution of projects. He highlighted the transformation Bihar has witnessed since 2005, citing improvements in law and order, healthcare, education, and infrastructure. Nitish Kumar reiterated that the government has approved all the announcements made during the ‘Pragati Yatra,’ ensuring their swift implementation..
The Chief Minister also addressed employment opportunities, stating that 9 lakh individuals have been provided government jobs so far, and the target is to employ 12 lakh by 2025. Additionally, 24 lakh people have already been provided employment under various schemes.
Focus on Education and Health Infrastructure
Nitish Kumar outlined significant strides in education, including the construction of engineering colleges, polytechnic institutes, and ITIs in Nalanda. The state has also made remarkable progress in healthcare, with expansions in medical colleges and hospitals. The government has committed to upgrading Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) to a 5,400-bed facility, along with similar expansions in other institutions.
He emphasized that schemes such as free medicine and treatment at government hospitals have significantly increased patient footfall. Moreover, the implementation of the Mukhyamantri Gram Sampark Yojana has improved road connectivity, reducing travel time across Bihar.
Women Empowerment and Social Welfare
Highlighting Bihar’s pioneering initiatives in women’s empowerment, Nitish Kumar mentioned the 50% reservation for women in Panchayati Raj institutions and the 35% reservation in government jobs, including police recruitment. He also lauded the success of the ‘Jeevika’ program, which has empowered over 1.35 crore women through self-help groups.
Additionally, the CM assured that 94 lakh economically weaker families identified through caste-based surveys would receive financial aid of Rs. 2 lakh per family to support their livelihoods.
