Patna, Suman Kumari (Editor-in-Chief) News Life Network, 10th February 2026: In a major step towards strengthening judicial infrastructure in Bihar, Hon’ble Chief Justice of the Patna High Court, Justice Sangam Kumar Sahu, virtually inaugurated sixteen infrastructure projects across six judgeships on Tuesday at 4:45 PM. The projects have been constructed at an approximate total cost of ₹43 crore, shortly after he assumed the charge as Chief Justice.
As per the official press release, the projects are spread across the judgeships of Rohtas, Sheohar, Banka, Bhagalpur, Jamui, and Sheikhpura. The Rohtas judgeship received major infrastructure including a multi-storey court room building, an amenity building, and a Hazat building constructed at a cost of more than ₹34.5 crore.
In Sheohar, an ADR-cum-Family Court building, an amenity building, and an E-Seva Kendra were inaugurated. Banka judgeship received facilities such as an open gymnasium, canteen, digitisation room, and E-Seva Kendra. Bhagalpur district saw the inauguration of an amenity building, a Hazat building, and three E-Seva Kendras at Kahalgaon, Naugachhia, and Bhagalpur subdivisions. Additionally, new E-Seva Kendras were inaugurated in Jamui and Sheikhpura.
The virtual inauguration ceremony was graced by the presence of several Hon’ble Judges of the Patna High Court, including Justice Rajeev Ranjan Prasad, Justice Partha Sarthy, Justice Sunil Dutta Mishra, Justice Dr. Anshuman, Justice Sourendra Pandey, Justice Ritesh Kumar, and Justice Ansul Raj, along with other judges of the High Court.
Senior officials of the Bihar government also attended the programme virtually, including Kumar Ravi, Secretary of the Building Construction Department, Anil Kumar, Chief Architect, Law Secretary Anjani Kumar Singh, and Basno Shanker Mehrotra, Special Secretary-cum-Additional Legal Remembrancer. Principal District & Sessions Judges, judicial officers, district magistrates, and senior police officials from across Bihar were also connected during the event.
The newly inaugurated court room complex includes multiple court halls, judges’ chambers, library, conference rooms, record and office spaces, along with inclusive facilities such as separate toilets for men, women, transgender persons, and specially-abled individuals. These additions are expected to enhance judicial capacity and help reduce pendency of cases.
Officials stated that the ADR-cum-Family Court building will promote alternative dispute resolution, while amenity buildings aim to improve facilities for litigants, lawyers, and court staff. Hazat buildings are designed to ensure dignified custody for under-trial prisoners, and E-Seva Kendras will provide easier public access to judicial services. Digitisation rooms will help preserve and manage court records, while facilities like canteens and open gymnasiums are intended to improve the overall judicial working environment.
Collectively, these projects are expected to create a more citizen-centric, accessible, and efficient district court infrastructure across Bihar.
