Patna, Advocate Suman Kumari, Legal Correspondent, March 19th 2026: The Patna High Court has announced that the Court and all its offices will remain closed on Friday, March 20, 2026, on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr and Alvida Jumma, the last Friday of the holy month of Ramzan, which holds deep religious significance for the Muslim community.
The notification was issued under the orders of the Hon’ble Chief Justice, highlighting the importance of the twin observances falling on the same day. Eid-ul-Fitr marks the end of the month-long fasting period of Ramzan, while Alvida Jumma is considered especially sacred as it is the final Friday prayers before Eid.
In lieu of this holiday, the High Court has declared Saturday, December 19th 2026, as a working day. This adjustment has been made following a request from the Coordination Committee of the three Advocates’ Associations of the High Court, ensuring that the judicial calendar remains balanced without affecting overall court functioning.
Meanwhile, members of the legal fraternity have extended warm greetings on the occasion. Hon’ble Chief Justice Mr. Sangam Kumar Sahoo conveyed his best wishes, expressing hope that the festival brings peace, prosperity, and harmony to all. Several other advocates and court officials also shared similar sentiments, emphasizing communal unity and mutual respect during the festive period.
