Rohtas, Mithilesh Kumar, 3rd May 2026: A grieving elderly mother in Rohtas continues to seek justice more than a month after the brutal killing of her son in a case that shocked the district and was later followed by the death of her daughter-in-law.
The incident relates to the March 24 murder of Hasan Raja alias Alif Khan, a resident of Baradih, under the Sasaram Mufassil police station area. According to reports, the victim was allegedly tied up, dragged along the road, and beaten to death in a brutal assault in Muradabad. The incident sparked outrage after a video of the killing surfaced publicly.
Despite the passage of over a month, the family says the main accused remains absconding.
Tragedy deepened when Hasan Raja’s wife allegedly died by suicide after reportedly being traumatized by her husband’s killing and ongoing threats, leaving behind two young children.
Now, the victim’s elderly mother, Sadina Khatoon, is caring for her grandchildren while continuing to demand justice.
Speaking out, she alleged that despite the brutality of the crime and video evidence of the incident, the family has neither received justice nor government assistance. She said managing two small children in her old age has become extremely difficult.
Responding to the allegations, Rohtas SP Roshan Kumar said that five accused have been arrested and sent to jail, while attachment proceedings have been initiated against absconding accused persons. He added that police are conducting continuous raids to arrest the remaining suspects.
The case has raised fresh questions over the pace of justice in high-profile violent crimes and the support available to families left behind.
