Gopalganj, Namo Narayan Mishra, April 21st 2026: A serious incident has emerged from Gopalganj district where a land dispute has directly impacted school education. The access road to Indira Awas Primary School, located in a Dalit locality, was allegedly blocked, disrupting academic activities and preventing students and teachers from reaching the school.
According to reports, when students arrived in the morning, they found the narrow pathway leading to the school completely obstructed with mud and other barriers. As a result, dozens of students and teachers were unable to enter the premises, bringing classes to a halt.
Angered by the situation, students, along with their parents and local residents, staged a protest by blocking the Gopalganj–Bettiah main road near Karariya village. Holding placards and raising slogans like “Open the route, let studies continue,” the protesters disrupted traffic movement, leaving school buses, private vehicles, and commuters stranded for hours.
School Headmistress Meena Kumari stated that the institution has been functioning for nearly 20 years and the रास्ता had always existed. She alleged that after two individuals recently registered land near the school, they blocked the access route, creating serious challenges for the functioning of the school.
Upon receiving information, local officials, teachers, and community members reached the spot. The Block Education Officer was also informed. After prolonged persuasion, the protesters eventually cleared the road, restoring normal traffic movement.
Deputy Development Commissioner Gaurav Kumar confirmed that he personally visited the site after receiving the complaint. He assured that blocking access to a school would not be tolerated under any circumstances. A strict warning has been issued to those responsible, and legal action will be taken if such incidents recur.
The incident once again highlights how land disputes in rural areas can severely disrupt children’s education. Locals have demanded a permanent solution from the administration to ensure uninterrupted access to the school and safeguard students’ right to education.
