Gopalganj, 22nd December 2024, Namo Narayan Mishra: The SDPO of Gopalganj, Pranjal Kumar, has initiated an investigation into the stone-pelting incident on police in Barhara village under Gopalpur police station. The police had gone to resolve a land dispute between two parties when the incident occurred.
As per reports, locals accused the police of vandalizing homes while arresting the accused. Acting on the SP’s orders, SDPO Kumar visited Barhara village, inspected the site, and held discussions with residents and local representatives to address their concerns. He also appealed to the villagers to maintain peace.
SDPO Kumar revealed that two days ago, in a land dispute, one party had allegedly held a youth hostage. When the police arrived to rescue him, some miscreants attacked them with stones. Following the incident, 22 individuals were arrested and sent to jail.
The SDPO acknowledged allegations from locals claiming that the police misbehaved with women and caused property damage during the arrests. He assured a thorough investigation, stating, “The SP has entrusted me with this probe. Action will be taken against anyone found guilty.”
Currently, the situation in Barhara village remains peaceful.
