Teen Runs Away Over ₹20 for Samosa in Bagaha, Found Safe After 8-Day Multi-City Journey

Bagaha, Deepak Kumar, April 25th 2026: In a startling yet cautionary incident from Bihar’s Bagaha district, a 14-year-old boy ran away from home after his mother refused to give him ₹20 for samosas, triggering an eight-day search operation that kept both his family and police on edge.

According to officials, the minor became upset when his mother declined his request for money. In anger, he allegedly took ₹500 from her purse and left home without informing anyone.

The boy later told police that he used the money to travel across multiple cities by train without tickets. His journey reportedly took him from Narkatiaganj to Gorakhpur, then to Lucknow, Gonda, and finally Prayagraj.

When the child did not return home, his family searched extensively before filing a kidnapping complaint at Laukaria police station on April 17. Police then launched a technical investigation, tracking mobile tower locations and coordinating with law enforcement agencies across states.

The breakthrough came when the boy’s mobile phone location was traced near Prayagraj Railway Station. Acting on the lead, Prayagraj Railway Police located the child and safely recovered him before informing Bagaha police.

Bagaha in-charge SP Nirmala Kumari personally interacted with the child after his recovery, during which he admitted taking ₹500 from his mother’s purse before leaving home.

Police officials said the incident serves as an important lesson for both children and parents. Authorities urged minors not to take extreme steps over minor disputes and advised parents to remain attentive to children’s emotional reactions.

The boy has since been reunited safely with his family. Police described the incident as a reminder of how a small disagreement can escalate into a serious situation if not handled carefully.
