Katihar, Shashi Kumar, 11th April 2026: Panic gripped Jalebi Tola village under Amdabad block in Katihar district after a sudden fire broke out in a heap of jute due to sparks from a nearby transformer. The fire quickly intensified, posing a serious threat to nearby houses and raising fears of a major disaster.
However, the timely response of local villagers along with the fire brigade team helped bring the blaze under control before it could spread further. Nearly 15 families narrowly escaped losing their homes in the incident.
According to local resident Chetan Kumar, the fire started in a jute pile belonging to Mohammad Aamir after sparks fell from the transformer. He added that even a slight delay could have led to a devastating situation.
It is also reported that several families had recently shifted to Jalebi Tola after being displaced from Jhabbu Tola in the Diara Panchayat, making the timely control of the fire even more crucial.
Authorities are currently investigating the exact cause of the fire, while villagers have demanded immediate repair and maintenance of the faulty transformer to prevent such incidents in the future.
