Patna, December 10: 2024, Vikas Kumar Ojha: Reacting strongly to the recent derogatory remarks made by RJD chief and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav about women; Bihar’s Minister of Food and Consumer Protection, Leshi Singh, addressed the media during a Jan Sunwai program at the state headquarters of the Janata Dal United (JDU).
Leshi Singh criticized Lalu Yadav, accusing him of consistently humiliating and disrespecting women. She alleged that Lalu Yadav’s mindset and the RJD party’s history reflect an anti-women ideology.
“Lalu Yadav has always demeaned women. His comments reveal the party’s and his own long-standing anti-women attitudes,” said Singh. She added that before 2005, women in Bihar suffered greatly under Lalu Yadav’s regime, enduring the challenges of the infamous jungle raj. During his rule, it was often difficult for women and girls to step outside their homes safely.
She further stated that Lalu Yadav and the RJD have consistently been involved in anti-women practices. According to Singh, their current discomfort stems from the empowerment of women in Bihar under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who has implemented 35% job reservations and 50% representation for women in panchayat and municipal elections.
“Today, Bihar’s women are leading in entrepreneurship and achieving high-ranking positions, bringing pride to the state. These achievements highlight the frustration of those who see women’s progress as a threat,” Singh remarked.
She added that the remarks by Lalu Yadav expose his anti-women views, and she strongly condemned his derogatory statement.
“It is natural for Lalu Yadav and his party to feel uncomfortable as Bihar’s women continue to assert their rights and make progress. I strongly oppose his statement in the harshest of terms,” she concluded.
